Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau is one of the internet’s most talked about pairs, so Diplo’s latest interview has taken the internet by storm for a shocking remark he made about them.
The DJ has been publicly romantically linked with the I Kissed a Girl singer all the way back in 2014, and he claimed to have also been in a relationship with the former Prime Minister.
In an episode of the Smart Girl Dumb Questions podcast, host Nayeema Raza and the music producer were talking about Quebec, which is a province in Canada.
Diplo then remarked that it was a raunchy place, to which the host quipped that it had a “hot prime minister,” that Katy was dating.
The 46-year-old admitted that he had dated her as well, surprisingly adding, “I did date Trudeau, too, that was a weird one though, because I’m just … I’m not in the positions.”
Since Diplo said it with a lot of sarcasm and a straight face, the news soon made headlines and the joke had to be clarified by the official podcast account.
It was noted under a fan query, “lol!! no that part was a joke and the Fidel thing was not true tooooo,” referring to another remark the Cold Water collaborator made.
Notably, Diplo was called one of the best lovers Katy has had in a talk show interview in 2017, alongside John Mayer and Orlando Bloom.
Diplo is known for being the co-creator of Major Lazer and later also being a part of LSD, with two other members, Labyrinth and Sia.
