Kate Hudson, widely recognised for her breakout role as Penny Lane in the 2000 cult classic Almost Famous, is getting sentimental about her decades-long career.
The 46-year-old actress opened up to PEOPLE at the world premiere of her new film Song Sung Blue at AFI Fest in Hollywood, revealing the best part of her 30 years in showbiz.
“I think the first thing that comes to mind is the people that I've met,” she shared.
“The connections always feel like my biggest gifts.”
Hudson stars alongside Hugh Jackman in Song Sung Blue, a heartfelt biopic inspired by the 2008 documentary about a married Neil Diamond tribute duo.
The Bride Wars actress called the film the culmination of “everything” she’s worked for, saying, “I get to do it all in one film, and that doesn’t happen very often.”
Getting into character as Claire Sardina was easy once her “hot rollers went in,” she joked, adding that she connected deeply with her character’s positivity.
The actress also gushed about meeting Neil Diamond himself, calling it “a dream.” She added, “His music just brings people together.”
Song Sung Blue hits cinemas nationwide on December 25.
