Sam Claflin reveals stunt accident that left Jennifer Lawrence hurt

Sam Claflin recently looked back on a painful yet funny on-set accident involving Jennifer Lawrence while filming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

The actor, who portrayed Finnick Odair alongside Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen, shared the story in a conversation with People magazine.

Claflin revealed that during a fight scene, the bottom of Finnick’s signature trident broke off mid-take and accidentally struck Lawrence.

"I remember this one time at the end of a take, I was like, ‘Oh my God, the bottom of my trident came off in the middle of that fight choreography,’” Claflin recalled. “Jen said she felt like she’d been bitten in the bum, and later realized the end of my trident spun off and smacked her right on the bum cheek.”

The Me Before You star added that Lawrence even took a photo of the bruise, which, to their amusement, matched the trident’s shape.

Claflin, who played the charming and emotionally complex Finnick Odair, became one of Katniss’s key allies in Catching Fire and later joined the rebellion against President Snow in Mockingjay: Part 1 and Part 2.
