Despite losing his titles, Andrew is still eighth in the line of succession.
On October 17, Andrew renounced his royal titles followed by being stripped of his title of Prince as well.
However, he is still eighth in the line of succession behind Prince William, Harry and their kids.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s spokesperson has weighed in on the issue.
As per BBC, While Andrew has been stripped of his royal honours, it would take an act of Parliament to formally remove him from the line of succession.
The PM’s spokesperson has stated “government does not intend to go down that road”.
The comment came after a motion was raised in the UK Parliament to launch an inquiry to investigate why Andrew has been living at the Royal Lodge rent free for two decades which was backed by Keir Starmer.
However, in the statement released on October 30, it was mentioned that Andrew has been notified to vacate the Royal Lodge.
As of now, Prince William is the heir apparent to the throne followed by his son Prince George.
