David Beckham pens emotional note for Messi

English football star David Beckham penned an emotional note for legendary footballer Lionel Messi.

Messi, who won the FIFA World Cup for his home country Argentina in 2022, joined Beckham’s club Inter Miami CF in 2023 by signing a two-and-a-half-year contract.

Now, the 38-year-old has extended his association with the club after signing a three-year contract extension.

This will make Messi play for the club until 2028, by the time he would be 41.

To mark the extension in their relationship, David wrote on Instagram “When we started this journey, our vision was to bring the best players to Miami. In 2023, we brought the best player to have ever played the game to our city.”

Expressing his joy over Messi’s decision to stay he wrote “Today, I am so happy that he’s still as committed as he’s ever been and still wants to wear the pink of Miami.”

David added how he is happy to have someone with his club who has inspired “the next generation of young talent”.

The Argentinian footballer helped Miami win the inaugural Leagues Cup in 2023 shortly after arriving.

The news comes after a sweet family moment Messi had with David’s mother Sandra who was starstruck after meeting the athlete.
