Jimmy Fallon’s heartbreaking farewell to first baby leaves fans in tears

American comedian Jimmy Fallon left fans in tears after making an emotional announcement on social media about the death of his beloved dog, Gary.

The Tonight Show host took to Instagram on Monday to share the heartbreaking news, paying tribute to his 13-and-a-half-year-old pet in a touching message that melted hearts online.

“She was our first baby, a therapist, a pillow, a big sister, a schoolmarm, a comedian, a party girl and a rebel,” he wrote alongside a series of photos of his furry companion.

“Definitely not a watchdog—she would’ve let burglars in and shown them where we kept the bacon and American cheese slices.”

“Franny, Winnie, Mommy and I miss you. The house misses you. The house is so quiet. The quiet is so loud. But that quiet is slowly being filled with stories about you and laughter amongst the sniffles,” the 51-year-old continued.

The comedian also recalled one of his fondest memories of Gary, how she would dive into the pool right after a bath, swim a few laps, and roll in the grass, kicking her legs with joy.

Fallon’s emotional post quickly drew thousands of comments from fans and celebrity friends. 

Comedian Bridget Everett wrote, “I’m so sorry, Jimmy. Nothing harder .” 

“We only get them for a short time, but they come to open our heart,” actress Cheri Oteri added.

One fan wrote, “All dogs go to heaven,” while another shared, “Sending love. We don’t deserve dogs, but I’m thankful they think we do.”

He concluded his tribute with a simple farewell: “Thank you for everything. Goodnight, Gary.”

Jimmy Fallon is married to Nancy Juvonen, a film producer and co-owner of the production company Flower Films. 

The couple tied the knot in December 2007 and have built a close family life together. 

They have two daughters: Winnie Rose Fallon, born in July 2013, and Frances Cole Fallon, born in May 2014.
