Tom Holland’s hopes of swapping his Spider-Man suit for a tuxedo have been dashed as the Marvel star has reportedly been banned from becoming the next James Bond.

According to insiders, the 29-year-old actor’s Marvel contract forbids him from taking on any major roles that could outshine his iconic superhero image.

A source told The Sun on Sunday’s Bizarre column: “Tom can’t play two superheroes — it just won’t happen.”

Holland, who once called playing Bond the “pinnacle” of any British actor’s career, had previously teased he’d be open to stepping into Daniel Craig’s shoes.

Speaking with Gordon Ramsay, he said: “I already consider myself the luckiest kid alive. I could not have dreamed to have the career that I have.”

While the Uncharted actor’s Bond ambitions are on hold, the franchise is charging ahead.

The 26th 007 film, directed by Dune visionary Denis Villeneuve and written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight will begin filming at Pinewood Studios next April.

The upcoming installment will take Bond into the age of artificial intelligence, with insiders promising a bold, modern twist.

“This is the first Bond of the AI era,” the source revealed.

How many times did Tom Holland play Spider-Man?

As of 2025, Tom Holland has played Spider-Man six times in live-action films within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

He first appeared in Captain America: Civil War (2016), marking his debut as the web-slinging hero, followed by Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).
