Jen Affleck’s emotional dance with mom Maria on ‘Dancing With Stars’

Jennifer Affleck had a memorable night performing on Dancing with the Stars dedication night, sharing the stage with her mom, Maria.

Speaking with PEOPLE after the emotional evening, the reality TV star reflected on the moving moment with her mother.

"It was not only a dream come true for myself, but I think it was also a dream come true for her,” Jen said of dancing with her mom. “This was also her first time ever performing in front of a large audience, a live audience, and so it was really special."

Jen further recalled the precious moment: "And the fact that she was able to see everything that happens behind the scenes, the training that goes into it, the tears, the sweat, just everything, it made everything more special.”

However, the influencer added that she believes it was “emotional for both my mom and me, and even Jan, and it was just a special moment for all of us."

Jen’s partner, Jan Ravnik, spoke to PEOPLE about his love and appreciation for her mom’s selflessness in giving Jen a wonderful life.

"For me, it's just like her mom is also foreign in this country and her story, I related because I'm foreign too and I left my family back home, so I think that was just very overwhelming for me at the same time," he shared.

Ravnik continued, "So some tears came out and I was like, 'Why am I crying?' She was like, 'Because you're human.' I was like, 'Nah, nah, nah, no more tears.'"
