Ranveer Singh extended well wishes to Kapil Dev after the Indian cricketer suffered a heart attack on Friday. The Haryana Hurricane recently underwent an angioplasty at Delhi Hospital.
“The Legend @therealkapildev embodies strength and resilience Praying for a speedy recovery of my main man,” Ranveer tweeted.
Kapil Dev is one of the most accomplished cricketers in India. It was under his captaincy when India won its first-ever world cup in 1983.
On Friday noon, the 61-year-old was rushed to the hospital and had to undergo an emergency coronary angioplasty.
Ranveer and Kapil have come close especially after the actor started rolling for a biopic based on the cricketer's life titled, ’83.
The actor also had a chance to shadow Kapil Dev to prepare for his role in the movie. He also stayed at the cricketer's home for a few days with his family.
“Kapil sir and his family are very warm, kind, and generous people. I’ll be ever grateful to them for being so magnanimous in helping me during this unique character study. Their large-heartedness was touching... something I’ll never forget. They’ve blessed me,” said Ranveer while speaking about his experience with the family.
The film also features Deepika Padukone, playing Kapil’s wife Romi. The ’83 was set to release this summer but has been postponed indefinitely due to the global pandemic.
