The world of music was left mourning when One Direction star Liam Payne passed away in a tragic incident last year.
On October 16, 2024, the pop star fell from his hotel room’s balcony during his stay in Buenos Aires which proved to be fatal.
The singer's body was flown to UK to be buried later in November.
The funeral was attened by his bandmates, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles and Niall Horan along with his former bandmate Zayn Malik.
After almost a year of his death, Louis has opened up about the late singer and how he processed losing a friend.
While speaking to the Rolling Stones UK, Louis said it was very difficult for him.
“I found it incredibly difficult to deal with the loss of Liam. I had never lost a friend before.”
Louis also spoke about Liam and how he was a “misunderstood” person at the time of his death.
“I think he was a very misunderstood person from the public perspective.”
He added, “If his character is ever judged, I think 9 out of 10 times, one can reflect on it, and the reflection is that he was someone who just wanted to be liked.”
Liam was 14 years old when he first auditioned on the UK X Factor but could not make it. Later he returned in 2010 and was put in the band with the four other boys.
