Jennifer Lopez's divorce from Ben Affleck helped her ‘grow’

Hollywood's highest-paid Latina actress, Jennifer Lopez, gets candid about her divorce from Oscar-winning actor Ben Affleck.

Reflecting on her divorce, in the Sept. 28 episode of CBS News Sunday Morning, Lopez told Lee Cowan that her divorce was "the best thing that ever happened to me."

"Because it changed me," Lopez explained. "It helped me grow in a way that I needed to grow."

During their divorce, Affleck and Lopez were working together as executive producer and star, respectively, in the new film Kiss of the Spider Woman.

Recalling the project, the Grammy-nominated singer reflected on that turbulent period in her life.

"It was a really tough time,” Lopez said on the morning show. “Every moment on set, every moment I was doing this role, I was so happy, and then it was like, back home, it was not great. And it was just like, oh, you know, 'How do I reconcile this?'"

Kiss of the Spider Woman premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January, the same month the former pair finalized their divorce.

Nearly 20 years after parting ways, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez reunited in 2021 and walked down the aisle a year later. 

However, on what would have been their second wedding anniversary in 2024, the Jenny from the Block singer filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court.
