Miley Cyrus reveals heartbreaking story behind new song 'Secrets'

Miley Cyrus recently opened up about the heartbreaking story behind her latest song, Secrets.

On September 19, in conversation with the Reclaiming podcast, the 32-year-old singer revealed the inspiration for the song.

Miley said, “My family and I really had a really difficult dark decade. Half of us weren’t speaking to each other at one point.”

She continued, “This year was all about my family putting those lines of communication back together. So I wrote Secrets for my dad, and I wanted him to tell me all the things that were damming and damaging to the family.”

The Disney alum dedicated the song to her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, in an earlier post this week. She wrote the caption, “This song was written as a peace offering for someone I had lost for a time but always loved.”

Notably, Secrets is in collaboration with Fleetwood Mac’s founding drummer, Mick Fleetwood, and guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. It's part of a deluxe edition of her album, Something Beautiful.

For the unversed, Miley expressed that she doesn’t have a desire to go on tour in support of her new album, noting that it’s difficult to maintain sobriety while on the road.
