Emmys are the most celebrated awards of the television industry that honour a wide range of artists and technicians for their work.

Former US president Barack Obama, who served the term twice, has beaten A-listers to win the Emmy for the third time.

The 64-year-old won the award for the “Best Narrator” at the 2025 Creative Arts Emmys.

The ceremony took place on September 7 in Los Angeles.

Obama took the award for the Netflix natural history series Our Oceans.

In the category, Obama was competing against the likes of Tom Hanks, David Attenborough, Idris Elba and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

With this win, Obama is now a three-time Emmy winner. Previously, he was awarded for two documentary series, Our Great National Parks and Working: What We Do All Day.

Obama is one of the only two US presidents to win an Emmy. Dwight Eisenhower was awarded the Governors Award in 1956.

Our Oceans was released in November 2024 which explores the relationship between the world’s oceans and sea creatures and how humans on land are destructive.

Following the Creative Arts Emmys, the Primetime Emmys are set to take place on September 15.
