2020 Emmys: drag queen RuPaul bags 2 major wins for ‘RuPaul's Drag Race'

The 2020 Emmys lit up with a bang after RuPaul won 2 major awards for the mesmerizing show RuPaul’s Drag Race. Not only that, the wins racked up to a major accomplishment, one that has not been repeated in the 13-year history of the award show.

While on stage for his acceptance speech, RuPaul left his fans in proud tears. He was quoted saying, “Welcome to the main stage of RuPaul's Drag Race. On behalf of VH1, World of Wonder and our incredible cast and crew, I want to thank the Academy for this great honor."

I've always said, 'Every time I bat my false eyelashes, I'm making a political statement. Well, tonight, the only political statement I want to make is this: Love.”

“Love for our LGBT brothers and sisters, love for Black queens and brown queens and love for the United States of America, where a little gay boy with nothing more than a [expletive]-cat wig and a dream can build an international platform that celebrates sweet, sensitive souls everywhere."

That is not all, before the evening had ended, the OG drag queen icon also bagged trophies for best Outstanding Reality or Competition Series, and during his acceptance speech he humbly embraced the honor by claiming, "We love making television, it is an honor to make television.”
