Rebel Wilson has been hit with another lawsuit by AI Films, which produced her 2024 musical film, The Deb.
On July 24, the production company filed proceedings against the 45-year-old actress, who was accused of embezzling funds from the movie.
They also claimed the Pitch Perfect star threatened to block the release of the movie by seeking an injunction.
Moreover, Rebel has been locked in a defamation lawsuit with The Deb producers, Vince Holden, Gregor Cameron and Amanda Ghost for almost a year.
Recently, the three producers countersued her for "injurious falsehood, misleading and deceptive conduct and breaches of contract and director's duties."
In 2024, the Bridesmaids star posted a video on her Instagram accusing them of "embezzling funds’ from the film and “absolute viciousness and retaliatory behaviour."
Over the following days, she began sharing videos of her co-star, Charlotte MacInnes, on the official Instagram page of The Deb.
The video showed the 25-year-old actress singing a cover of Pink Pony Club on billionaire Len Blavatnik’s yacht in Cannes.
Wilson wrote, “Charlotte MacInnes ironically singing a song from a movie that will never get released because of her lies and support for the people blocking the film’s release.”
An attendee of the party was perplexed about how she got hold of the footage despite not being in Cannes.
It was later revealed that the singer had pulled the video from an Instagram post made by Bender, who expressed his criticism of Wilson’s behaviour.
He told Variety, “The last thing I expected was for somebody to take this and turn it into something negative.”
As of now, neither Rebel Wilson nor her representatives have commented on the ongoing lawsuit.
