Alan Bergman, the widely recognized American lyricist, went to eternal rest at the age of 99.

On Friday, July 18, a family representative announced the news of his death, stating that the songwriter passed away at his Los Angeles home late Thursday, in the presence of his daughter, Julie Bergman.

Ken Sunshine, spokesperson for the family of the deceased, stated, mentioning the cause of his passing, "Bergman suffered from respiratory issues in recent months, but continued to write songs till the very end."

The power couple Alan and Marilyn Bergman, who tied the knot in early 1958, gave their fans many chart-topping hits, such as Yellow Bird, And I'll Be There, What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?, What Matters Most, and Love Like Ours; however, the list goes on.

In a 1980 interview with People magazine, the Grammy Award winner shared, “When you’re creating something, you sometimes have to go through a lot of stupid or silly things to spark your collaboration. You learn to say what comes into your head.”

Notably, the duo also wrote many opening songs for TV shows, including Good Times, Maude, Alice, and Brooklyn Bridge.
