The MetLife Stadium in New Jersey ensured that all the stars were closer for a  Halftime show that leaves onlookers in awe.

A string of impressive performances, which kicked off with J Balvin taking the stage to perform his hit Mi Gente, captivated the audience from the get go.

The Colombian star’s appearance was briefly interrupted by Tems taking the stage for her song Love Me Jeje, after which he returned to sing his 2018 track Reggaeton, which honours artists like Daddy Yankee.

Doja Cat proceeded to steal the spotlight from him soon after, energising the crowd with her empowering and chart-topping hit, Woman.

The Kiss Me More rapper also commented on her appearance, telling Rolling Stone, that she was proud to represent America in the event that unites people from different cultures.

She continued, “I’m also extremely grateful to continue to support global education efforts by raising funds for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.”

Doja then gave way for a surprise performance by Coldplay of their uplifting track A Sky Full of Stars.

“Today we witnessed something truly historic — artists representing the Americas, Africa, Europe and Oceania coming together on football’s biggest stage for the first ever FIFA halftime show,” said the CEO of Global Citizen, since they produced the show.

Notably, the Global Citizen organisation aimed to raise funds for the education of children.

How much did Global Citizen acquire?

Global Citizen managed to earn $10 million of their $100 million goal for the cause via the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.
