Drake and The Weeknd should take a step back as Ed Sheeran emerges the victor on an impressive streaming chart.

The Sapphire singer has been listed as the first position holder for his 2017 track, which is officially the most streamed song of the decade across the globe, according to Apple music.

Shape of You, from Ed’s third studio album Divide was a massive hit upon its release and has stood the testament of time in terms of frequent listeners.

The runner up to the pop track was the synth-pop sensation, Blinding Lights, by one of the most-popular artist of the 21st century, The Weeknd.

Of the top three tracks, the 2020 song is the most recent release with a great critical reception and praise from audiences who appreciated its callback to 1980s music.

Drake came in third with his 2018 track God’s Plan, which was featured on his fifth studio album Scorpion.

The Hotline Bling singer also achieved another massive feat in the list of 500 songs, that his was the most recurring name throughout the tally, appearing a total of 27 times on the extensive streaming record.
