Netflix mega-hit series Squid Game, which became a worldwide sensation right after its release, won an Emmy Award, and is a Korean breakthrough in Hollywood, has finally ended.

As Season 3 wrapped up with tears, blood, and sacrifices, fans believe some of the characters died unfairly.

Here are the top three characters who deserved better than a brutal death.

Seong Gi-hun

The hero of Squid Game, who won the first season and returned in the second season to save people from dying, died by the end of the series.

Seong Gi-hun was the protagonist of the show and was loved by fans globally. The character had to die in the final Sky Squid Game, where he could have possibly won.

Gi-hun chose humanity over his own life and let 222’s baby girl win the game, sacrificing himself in a tragic and emotional death.

Cho Hyun-ju

Cho Hyun-ju debuted in Season 2, Episode 3, and built a strong connection with 222 and Jang Geum-ja.

In Season 3’s Starry Night game, the contestants had to play hide and seek. Half of the characters had to hide until they found an exit, while the other half had to find the hidden contestants and kill them with a knife.

During the game, Hyun-ju protected 222 and Geum-ja. After 222 gave birth to her baby girl, Hyun-ju found the exit.

However, as Hyun-ju came back to rescue Geum-ja and 222, she was killed by a contestant who was killing out of brutality.

Jang Geum-ja

Jang Geum-ja debuted in the series in Season 2, Episode 3. She arrived with her son, though neither of them knew they were participating until they were already in the game.

Throughout the game, the mother-son duo tried to keep each other safe—until the Starry Night hide and seek game, where they ended up on opposite teams.

By the end of the game, her son hadn’t killed anyone. To survive, he needed to make a kill. He was about to kill 222, who had just given birth with Geum-ja’s help.

So, Geum-ja killed her son instead. She was devastated, and by the next morning, she was found hanged beside a floating bed.
