Queen Camillas Northumberland visit crashed by anti-monarchy protestors

Queen Camilla remained unfazed as a small group of anti-monarchy protestors greeted her during a royal visit to Hexham, Northumberland.

Despite the rain and chants of “Down with the crown,” Her Majesty carried on with her engagements, ignoring the handful of demonstrators from the group Republic, who held signs and umbrellas bearing their trademark yellow branding.

Republic's CEO Graham Smith criticized the visit, claiming it placed a financial burden on local services already facing cuts.

“Wherever the royals go, they end up costing taxpayers tens of thousands of pounds,” he said. “Camilla’s visit today is just more royal PR.”

Still, Queen Camilla received a warm welcome from locals who turned out in the rain to see her, umbrellas in hand.

Mayor Derek Kennedy said Hexham was “delighted” to host the Queen, adding, “She will get a wonderful reception from all the people of Hexham and Tynedale.”

This marks Camilla’s third visit to the North East this year, following appearances in Teesside and at Durham Cathedral’s Royal Maundy Service.

Despite the protest, it was business as usual for the Queen, who appeared unbothered and regal throughout.
