The supernatural horror film, Sinners, earned a comment from the film’s director Ryan Coogler about a potential sequel, after the movie continues to smash box office records.

Ryan, who is notorious for successful franchises such as Black Panther and Creed, made a surprising confession about the vampire horror he also wrote and co-produced.

The ten-time NAACP Image Award winner revealed that Sinners was deeply personal to him, and that “never” considered a sequel for the critically acclaimed film.

In an interview with Ebony Magazine, Ryan stated, “I wanted the movie to feel like a full meal: your appetizers, starters, entrees and desserts, I wanted all of it there. I wanted it to be a holistic and finished thing. That was how I was asked all about it. That was always my intention.”

The prominent director also noted to Variety how the Michael B. Jordan collaboration was a passion project, saying, “This film is very much me,” after which the 39-year-old went on to describe all the elements he appreciates, which made it into the movie.

Notably, Ryan wanted to stray away from franchises with Sinners, so the highly successful film getting a sequel headed by the director seems unlikely.

Does 'Sinners' have a great reception?

Yes, Sinners has recently surpassed $350 million at the global box office. The film has also accumulated largely positive reviews from critics and cinema-goers.
