New dress code regulations were introduced just days before the event
Fashion model Bella Hadid’s revealing dress at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival became a key example of inappropriate attire for this year’s event.
Just a few days before the festival began, new nudity regulations were put into effect to promote decency on the red carpet.
According to The Sun, Bella’s previous nude appearance was cited as a reference for what would now be considered a violation under the updated dress code.
At last year’s premiere of The Apprentice, the 28-year-old wore a sheer light brown dress without a shapewear, an outfit that sparked wide attention and controversy.
As a guideline, a memo was distributed outlining what was deemed an appropriate attire.
One example of a violation listed in the guideline was an actor's nude-toned outfit similar to Hadid's previous look.
However, her recent appearance at Cannes ticked all the boxes they mentioned, and she made a highlighted appearance at the event.
