Smokey Robinson is being criminally investigated after unsettling allegations of sexual assault came to light.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department announced on Thursday that their “Special Victims Bureau is actively investigating criminal allegations involving William Robinson aka 'Smokey Robinson.' The investigation is in the early stages, and we have no further comment."

The development came after last week when Robinson’s four former housekeepers filed a civil lawsuit.

The plaintiffs are demanding $50 million in damages after accusing the legendary Motown singer of sexual misconduct dating back to 2014.

John Harris, the attorney of the anonymous women, detailed the lawsuit in which the 85-year-old allegedly created a “hostile work environment” for his employees.

Harris further revealed that the females are Hispanic, who worked below the minimum wage and that their employer took advantage of their vulnerable position.

In response, Robinson’s attorney, Christopher Frost, denied the accusations, claiming that his client “did nothing wrong” and it is a “manufactured lawsuit.”
