Tom Cruise, who is known for performing death defying stunts in his movies, gushed about the major milestone of the action franchise after receiving five-minute long-standing ovation.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, receiving huge rounds of applause during and post-screening of the film.
Tom, who played the agent Ethan Hunt in the series since 1996, moved everyone to tears with his heartfelt speech.
He expressed his gratitude: “I’m just very grateful, very grateful for 30 years” to be able to entertain” the crowd by being part of this franchise.
The four-time Academy Award nominee specially mentioned the director Christopher McQuarrie for “what you’ve done, how you’ve expanded it, how we just went beyond our expectations.”
“I look forward to making a bunch of other kinds of movies with [Christopher],” Tom added.
The Top Gun: Maverick lead was in awe of the love and support that he received as the audience stood for five minutes to appreciate the team and their chilling creativity.
However, some theatregoers felt that the film was exhaustingly long. Many from the audience got up and left during the closing scenes of the movie.
In 2022, Tom Cruise made a striking appearance at the premiere of his movie Top Gun: Maverick, marking his return to the Riviera.
