Sean “Diddy” Combs is seeing the beginning of the second week of his criminal case trial, with the jury set to be finalized after a delay.
After a jury selection delay took place in May, the prosecutors have returned to narrow down the group of jurors who will then serve on the high profile case.
The legal teams on both sides had been asked to narrow the group down to 12 jurors, with six alternatives.
The delay was caused due to there being concern that prospective jurors may go on to cause problems for the case.
Instead of having to restart the whole process, the prosecutors as well as Judge Arun Subramanian agreed to finalize them on May 12, taking from a pool of 43.
For the proceedings to run smoothly, court will begin an hour early, with opening statements expected to take place the same day.
For selections, prospective jurors were asked if they, a family member or a friend had ever been a victim of sexual assault, sexual harassment or domestic violence or if they had ever been charged or accused of such crimes.
Before the trial officially began on May 5, Combs confirmed that he had turned down a plea deal during a final pretrial hearing that took place on May 2.
