Prince Harry is back in hot water, and this time it’s over a “bad public blunder” involving his father, King Charles.
Last week, the Duke of Sussex, 40, raised eyebrows after telling the BBC that he didn’t know “how much longer” the King, 76, had left, a remark that triggered fresh speculation about the monarch’s health.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams didn’t hold back, telling Express.co.uk that the King’s packed VE Day schedule, including boat rides, film premieres, and garden parties, proves he's anything but on his last legs.
“It’s hard to keep track of it all,” Fitzwilliams said. “He thrives on activity. He certainly isn’t frail.”
The royal analyst says Harry’s remarks directly undermined the image of a monarch trying to project strength, unity, and resilience during a critical week of WWII anniversary commemorations.
Fitzwilliams called Harry’s BBC interview “ill-advised and badly timed”, especially considering how visible and active King Charles has been despite undergoing cancer treatment.
“Not for the first time, Prince Harry has made a bad public blunder… it underlines the fact he can’t be trusted,” the expert stated.
Aside from the health speculation, Harry also told the BBC his father “won’t speak” to him due to the fallout from his security legal battle, continuing the narrative of estrangement between father and son.
King Charles, in contrast, made headlines on Tuesday for an upbeat update. When asked how he was doing during the London premiere of Sir David Attenborough’s new documentary, Ocean, the monarch smiled and said: “I’m great.”
In his BBC sit-down, Harry expressed frustration and pain, saying: “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious.”
However, the comment about his father’s health, paired with claims that the Palace played a role in stripping his security, has left royal watchers fuming.
Although Buckingham Palace has chosen not to comment directly on Harry’s remarks about King Charles, they released a blunt statement in response to the court ruling: “All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion.”
