Charles Melton, Stephanie Hsu to Lead Voice Cast for ‘In Waves’

Award-winning animation studio, Silex Film, is currently producing the surfing-based animated film In Waves, the storyline of which explores the complexities of first love.

The animated movie is adapted from AJ Dungo's poignant graphic memoir, which follows the story of a reserved teenager from Los Angeles who falls in love with a passionate surfer, Kristen.

The upcoming animated movie features a talented lead voice cast, including the Riverdale breakout star Charles Melton and Academy Award-nominated actress Stephanie Hsu. 

The two actresses will be the voice cast for the leading roles and are expected to bring depth to this profound narrative.

The movie is primarily described as an “unconditional first love story”. Produced by Silex Films, Charades, and Anonymous Content and directed by an ex-student at French animation schools Gobelins, Phuong Mai Nguyen and La Poudrière, the movie tells a “tale of loss and memories”.

The director of the anticipated movie, Phuong Mai, has previously created episodes for the animated series Brazen, produced by Silex as well, which was shortlisted for the Oscar Award.

The co-producers of the In Waves, Charades and Anonymous Content, will present a promo reel to buyers at the Cannes market, 2025.
