The Rare hitmaker seems to have found her ‘happily ever after’ with producer Benny Blanco after a long spate of unsuccessful love stories.

Since the two were first linked in mid-2023 to their eventual engagement, they haven’t shied away from publicly showing off their love, and here’s a timeline of their heartwarming romance.

2019: Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco collaborate

Years before finding love with each other, Selena and Benny actually connected through music. The couple is thought to have first met while collaborating in March 2019 on the song I Can’t Get Enough with J Balvin and Tainy.

June-August 2023: Selena Gomez insists she’s single

Right before the release of her new song, Single Soon, and just months before Benny and her went public, Selena declared that she was ‘single’, shutting down rumours of her alleged romances with singer Zayn Malik and DJ Drew Taggart earlier in the year.

October 2023: Benny Blanco attends Selena Gomez’s Rare Impact Fund gala

By October, Selena and Benny seemed to be easing into their romance, and while they weren’t ready to go public yet, Selena did invite Benny to the first Rare Impact Fund Benefit, supporting youth mental health.

December 2023: Selena Gomez confirms romance with Benny Blanco

After rumours about Selena and Benny started gaining speed on social media, Selena stepped in to defend her man against mean comments online.

January 2024: Selena and Benny take their romance courtside

No Hollywood romance is official or complete without a courtside appearance, and so, Selena and Benny were spotted cuddling at a Los Angeles Lakers home game in what was their first official public outing.

The two then became a fixture on the awards circuit, attending the Golden Globes and Emmys together.

February-September 2024: Selena and Benny gush about their romance

Since going public with their romance, Selena and Benny hardly held back from gushing about their love for each other and their plans together.

From Selena telling Zane Lowe that being with Benny has been the ‘the safest that I feel and it’s been really lovely’, to Benny spilling on The Howard Stern Show that having kids with her is his ‘next goal’, the two seemingly couldn’t get enough of each other.

December 2024: Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez are engaged

Exactly a year after taking their romance public, Selena Gomez took to Instagram to announce her engagement to Benny Blanco.

Since their engagement, the couple have announced and released a joint album titled, I Said I Love You First. The album, released on March 21, 2025, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
