Lena Dunham is willing to bring back Girls but only if the story explores a new chapter in the characters' lives.
In a recent conversation with The Rushfield Lunch, the American writer shared her thoughts on a possible Girls comeback.
The 38-year-old writer stated, “We haven’t had a conversation about a reunion only because we always said when the show ended that if we were going to go back, it would have to be at such a different phase in their lives. Let’s check in when they’re 60.”
“Let’s check in when they’re not at Sex and the City age, they’ve taken even another leap,” the Golden Globe Awards winner continued.
The Tiny Furniture writer further stated, “Part of the goal of the show was always to lean into what was unexpected, so we want to be unexpected if we come together again.”
It has been concluded that the show reboot is not confirmed yet. Lena is grateful that Girls has gained a new following and is appreciated especially among Gen Z viewers.
