Will Smith called ‘desperate’ after new album release

Will Smith, who made a comeback in his rap career after two decades, got slammed for being irrelevant for the new generation.

The rapper was labelled “desperate” by critics after the Academy Award winner tried to fix his crumbled reputation by launching new album Based On A True Story to express himself in front of the world.

Will, who was once a leading actor of Hollywood, lost his fame after he slapped Chris Rock in the 2022 Oscars ceremony.

After his downfall, the Bad Boys star took a second chance at rapping, following the advices given to him by other notable singers such as Kendrick Lamar and Jay-Z.

However, it did not go well for the 56-year-old as he is “almost a senior citizen now” which made it difficult for him to “connect with today’s hip-hop crowd,” an industry insider told Radar Online.

“This stinks of desperation … and the music stinks, too. It’s actually some of the worst in history and this stinks of pure desperation on his part,” the source added.

Although the Getting’ Jiggy Wit It hitmaker and DJ Jazzy Jeff created massive hits together, Will’s new track was unable to reach the Top 100 on the Billboard charts which appears to be a “bad omen” for the musician.
