‘Hunger Games’ fans up in arms about prequel casting

Kiefer Sutherland became the subject of conversations on the internet after it was reported that Ralph Fiennes is being eyed to take on the role of President Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.

What involved the actor in the conversation is that he is the son of Donald Sutherland, who took on the role of President Snow in the original movies.

Fans quickly picked up on the missed opportunity and connection, with one user writing, “No. I like Ralph Fiennes as an actor, but Kiefer Sutherland is right there!”

“what’s even the point of nepotism if kiefer sutherland doesn’t get to play president snow,” added another.

However, others wondered if fans were even taking into account the fact that Sutherland may not want to take on the role, “Did anyone stop to ask Kiefer Sutherland if he wanted to play Snow? Like at all? Let alone in the past year since his dad died? We don't even know if this man was offered + declined, auditioned or didn't, and I'm seeing insistence it should be him regardless.”
