Princess Beatrice opened up about her premature delivery on her sister Princess Eugenie's 35th birthday.
The Princess of York penned a heartfelt article for Vogue Magazine and announced that her daughter Athena Elizabeth Rose is "doing really well" following her difficult pregnancy and delivery.
Beatrice wrote, "Nothing quite prepares you for the moment when you realise your baby is going to arrive early."
Sarah Ferguson's daughter shared that she was extremely concerned about the well-being of her newborn. She said, "There’s so little control. Will she arrive healthy? Will there be complications? How will you juggle the rest of family life while trying to keep a tiny human safe and well?"
Beatrice revealed that after routine scans, she and her medical team realised that the baby "needed close monitoring, and understood we needed to prepare for an early arrival."
The Princess of York said that her second pregnancy journey was a humbling experience for her.
Speaking of her mission after facing difficulties, Beatrice said that she is "filled with a sense of determination that more can be done to help others find answers to those questions around the complications that can lead to preterm birth – questions that defined my days (and nights) during pregnancy."
