Prince Harry's friends claim Meghan Markle 'took him away' from his old life

Prince Harry’s dramatic shift in values before stepping down as a senior royal in 2020 reportedly didn’t sit well with his childhood friends and royal insiders, according to royal author Tom Quinn.

In his new book, Yes Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants, Quinn claims that many of Harry’s longtime pals blamed Meghan Markle for his changing outlook, labeling the Duke of Sussex as “too woke” and a “tree-hugging lefty.”

“One of Harry’s best friends said, ‘I can’t understand what Harry sees in her. She’s a tree hugger. She’s so woke,’” Quinn told Fox News Digital.

The author suggests that Harry became “entranced” by Meghan’s world, which was vastly different from his traditional aristocratic upbringing.

According to Quinn, the shift in Harry’s priorities was noticeable behind palace doors.

“After Meghan’s arrival, he was concerned about her welfare, but it was as if his job now was not to attend royal events, but to adopt her views of the world,” an aide claimed.

Quinn also recalls an infamous pheasant hunting trip with Harry’s old army and school friends, where Meghan clashed with their humor and values.

“She hated it because all of Harry’s friends were making jokes that mocked ‘woke culture,’” Quinn said.

The book suggests that Prince William struggled to understand his brother’s transformation, especially given their shared childhood interests in polo, hunting, and royal traditions.

A former palace staffer added that before Meghan, Harry was easygoing and content in his royal role. But after his marriage, tensions grew within the royal household, ultimately leading to their high-profile exit in 2020.

Despite the controversy surrounding his newfound activism, Quinn argues that Harry was simply evolving—and his royal past no longer fit the future he envisioned with Meghan.
