Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s high-profile Netflix deal may be hanging by a thread despite the renewal of With Love, Meghan for a second season.
According to TV industry insiders, Netflix executives are reconsidering their contract with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, questioning whether the couple continues to provide “value for money.”
The Sussexes signed a lucrative five-year, £80 million ($100 million) deal with Netflix in 2020, shortly after stepping down from royal duties. Since then, they have released five projects, including their explosive docuseries Harry & Meghan, which remains their only major success.
A source told The Sun: “Netflix has been broadly pleased with the show and isn’t concerned about negative reviews. The fact that everyone is talking about the streamer is already a win for them.”
“But the real question now is whether they believe renewing their deal is worth it financially or if they’ve already tapped all the potential from their partnership with the couple,” the insider added.
With their current contract nearing its expiration, the Sussexes could face an uncertain future with the streaming giant.
So far, the couple have released their explosive docu-series, Harry & Meghan in 2022, which was a big hit. Meanwhile, their other shows, Live to Lead (2022), Heart of Invictus (2023) and POLO (2023), have been less successful.
