After the flop of her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, Meghan Markle is pivoting to a new project—a podcast series set to launch later this year. However, PR experts are already warning the Duchess of Sussex that her new venture could fail if she repeats past mistakes.
Edward Coram-James, chief executive of Go Up, spoke to Newsweek, explaining that Meghan’s approach needs a serious revamp if she wants the public to connect with her podcast.
"The one thing that isn't wise is leaning into interviewing famous people. People don't actually like the fact she fled the UK to go and live with these people the British public perceive to be these glitzy Montecito types living in Santa Barbara," he said.
He emphasized that the public has always liked Prince Harry because he stands up for causes that resonate—such as wounded veterans, conservation efforts, and climate advocacy.
"Those are the kind of things people will get on board with. Whereas being perceived as the type who is rolling around with these A-list celebrities is not a good look and is not going to make her relatable, which is actually what she's trying to achieve with this show," he added.
According to Coram-James, Meghan should ditch celebrity interviews and instead focus on meaningful conversations that make her more relatable.
"She needs to stop inviting famous people on," he advised, suggesting that she should take inspiration from her husband’s approach to connecting with the public.
