Filmmaker Michael Bay is sounding alarms in Hollywood.
The 60-year-old recently gave an interview to The Hollywood Reporter where he got candid about the current state of Tinseltown.
Bay talked about a conference call with Avatar director James Cameron, where they were “commiserating about Hollywood.”
The Transformers director also criticised the process of producing movies in current Hollywood.
“No one can greenlight anything anymore. It's just so slow," Bay revealed.
Bay remembered early days of his career and specifically talked about greenlighting his 1998 blockbuster Armageddon and the relatively simple process of producing the film.
“Those were the days. We had Jonathan Hensleigh, the writer. We sat down for two or three weeks. We had the NASA guy come into my office. We worked out this 20-minute pitch. We go into [former Walt Disney Chairman] Joe Roth’s office. This would be my third movie,” Bay reminisced.
Bay also talked about a project titled Black Five which failed to see the light of day due to the same issues. He described that movie as a thriller that centres on a military team with advanced technology.
Bay is currently trying to get a Netflix project going, which would star Will Smith. Bay said the movie is titled Fast and Loose but expressed his concerns as the project is not a done deal.
