Prince Harry’s estrangement from the British royal family may continue indefinitely, as experts believe there are no signs of reconciliation in sight.

Earlier this month, Prince Harry made headlines while attending the Invictus Games in Canada. Around the same time, King Charles III met with former Army captain and para-sports athlete David Henson at Imperial College London’s Centre for Injury Studies.

During their conversation, Henson brought up his participation in the Invictus Games, the international sporting event founded by Prince Harry. However, instead of engaging in the topic, King Charles gave only a brief response, saying “fantastic.”

Discussing the encounter on their podcast, The Royals with Roya and Kate, royal experts Roya Nikkhah and Kate Mansey pointed out that the King passed up a key moment to acknowledge his son’s work.

"Now that could have been an opportunity for the King to say 'Oh yes, they're marvellous' or whatever that might be," they noted.

"But, he just let that comment go and the conversation continued, and the King didn’t pick up on that at all. So, I thought that was really interesting…That was quite telling, the King just sort of didn’t acknowledge the (Invictus) Games at all."

Reports suggest that while Prince Harry may be open to mending ties, his father King Charles and brother Prince William may not be as keen on reconciliation.

According to royal author Robert Hardman, the healing process must involve all three parties.

"Whatever reconciliation or bridge-building happens, it needs to be a three-way process," he told the Daily Beast.

"People keep asking about the King's feelings, but William also has to be on board, which adds complexity. It’s tricky, and a situation nobody wants. But whatever the way forward is, it has to work for everybody."

With no clear path to mending relationships, it remains uncertain whether Prince Harry’s fractured bond with the royal family will ever be fully restored.

What is Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's connection to the Invictus Games?

The Invictus Games hold special significance for Prince Harry, as he founded the event in 2014 to support wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women. Meghan Markle has been a steadfast supporter, often attending the games alongside her husband. Their joint appearances at these events highlight their shared commitment to veteran causes and provide a platform to showcase their solidarity as a couple.
