Timothee Chalamet took home a win in the best actor category at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards for his film, A Complete Unknown.

Sitting down for an interview with Extra later, he revealed what his mother, Nicole Flender had said to him after he got the award.

"She said, 'Don’t forget to fold your laundry,' and I was like, 'Really? This moment? Really? This moment I just won this award, and I’m 29 years old and you’re chastising me still,’” he joked.

The actor also admitted that his mother wasn’t too surprised when his name was called, "She might have won me this. I grew up in an actors’ building in New York, so I know she really pushed everyone she knew to hit that vote button."

He took to his Instagram to share a few snaps of himself from the event, one of which included a shot of him with his mother, "YEOOOOOOO I WON I CANT BELIEVE IT !!!!!!!," he gushed, "THANK YOU TO MY PEERS FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART !!!!!!! ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE SCREEN ACTORS GUILD !!! GUNNA CELEBRATE TONIGHT THANK U THANK U THANK U !!!!!!!"

The Dune star also made sure to thank his mother while accepting the award, "I was not expecting this at all. I'll start by thanking my mother who I'm here with tonight. She has been working at Actors Equity for 40 years, the stage union."

Who is Timothee Chalamet's mother?

Nicole Flender is a third generation New Yorker, who is of half Austrian Jewish and half Russian Jewish descent.
