Jesse Eisenberg, an American writer, sat down for an interview with People at the Writers Guild Awards where he discussed his writing, new projects and his family.
Admitting that he had doubts about giving his son, Banner, a small role in his recent film, A Real Pain, the actor ultimately decided to go with it because his son "was happy" and he is "an artsy, interesting kid."
"We write songs together," he added, "My kid is a brilliant musical kid, so we write songs together."
He and his wife, Anna Strout, welcomed their only child in 2017. They initially met on the set of The Emperor’s Club in 2001 and then ended up splitting up after ten or so years together. However, they went on to be reunited in 2015 and tied the knot in 2017.
The two time Oscar nominated star opened up previously about the experience of becoming a father at the SXSW premiere of his film, Sasquatch Sunset. "My general feeling is I spent the first 35, sorry 33 years of my life worrying about myself. And a lot of these concerns were just narcissistic, self-involved, fantastical problems that I created to just ruin my life."
"And then I spent the next seven years of my life worrying about real things, worrying about another person," he continued, "And I know it sounds like a self-serving excuse, but it's made me a lot happier."
