Nicole Kidman is unraveling in ‘Holland’ movie: first look

Nicole Kidman, an Australian actress, will be coming apart in her upcoming film, Holland by director Mimi Cave.

She plays the role of Nancy Vandergroot, a meticulous teacher and homemaker "whose picture-perfect life with her community pillar husband and son in tulip-filled Holland, Michigan, tumbles into a twisted tale," according to a synopsis.

Succession star Matthew Macfadyen will be playing the role of her husband while Belfast actor Jude Hill will portray her son.

Gael García Bernal will be taking on the part of her “friendly colleague” as they "become suspicious of a secret, only to discover nothing in their lives is what it seems."

Cave, known for directing Fresh, said, "There's an odd sort of offbeat humor about it that we're hoping people get and enjoy."

She revealed that Kidman’s role in To Die For was a source of inspiration for her character in Holland, "She plays this incredibly undertone comedic lead and I knew she had that in her, but maybe just hasn't, you know, been in a role [like that] in a while. She is so funny, so deeply funny."

"Her comedic timing is incredible," the director remarked.

"I think that's something that— it wasn't that we didn't expect it, but when it happened it was so far beyond what we expected, that there was lots of laughter on set and lots of joy and lots of, like, seeing where we could push things that she was game for." she gushed further.

Holland will be having its premiere at the 2025 SXSW Festival on 9 March before becoming available for streaming on Prime Video from 27 March.
