Mikey Madison’s brother bet ‘a lot’ of money on her Oscar nomination

Mikey Madison, an American actress, recently became a part of People’s 2025 Oscar Portfolio where she spoke about her hit film Anora and her Oscar nomination.

“My brother, he bet a lot of money on the nomination, so I think he was happy that I got nominated,” she revealed, after having earned her first ever Academy Award nomination, that too in the Best Actress category.

She also revealed that the rest of her family, which includes four siblings and her parents "are really excited, and they're very proud of me.”

Discussing the experience of hearing herself be nominated, the actress said, “So I was just FaceTiming my mom and my dad, my brother, my dog. My cat was nowhere to be seen. She was gone. She didn't care about the nominations.”

The celebration was, she admitted, quite humble, "I don't think I really digested it at all, but I did have pancakes. So that was my little celebration."

"I didn't want any of it to end," Madison claimed about filming Anora, "When we wrapped shooting, I wanted to keep going. I was so heartbroken that it was over because the connections that I made with people were so special to me."

“It's kind of hard to put into words because it's so meaningful to be nominated by your peers, in an industry that I love so much and admire. So it's kind of a dream come true in lots of ways," she gushed.
