The adaptation of the book series by Sarah J. Maas, A Court of Thorns and Roses which was set to come to Hulu has been scrapped, according to sources.

Being produced by Disney’s 20th Television, the show, which was also Disney property, had been in the works since 2021. The author had teamed up with Outlander writer Ronald D. Moore for the script.

There had been no updates on it since the initial announcement, with the actors and writers strike putting the work on significant pause.

It was reported by TVLine last year that the show was no longer in production at Hulu and would not be going to any other platform either. However, Variety claimed that it was technically still in production, although not actively.

Now, according to sources that spoke to Variety, Maas is looking to take the series to another network after the deal ends up expiring in 2025 with Disney.

20th Television and Hulu have not yet commented on the news, and neither have the representatives for the author.

The first part in the book series was originally published in 2015, and Maas went on to release four more parts following the success of the original.
