Kendrick Lamar, an American rapper, claimed the top spot for Record of the Year at the 2025 Grammy Awards with his track, Not Like Us.
While giving his speech he expressed his love for Compton, California while showing gratitude towards his collaborator, Mustard.
"This is my neck of the woods that's held me down since I was a young pup. Since I was in the studio scrapping to write the best raps and all that — the records like these. I can't give enough thanks to these places that I rolled around since high school," the rapper began.
He continued, "Most importantly to the people and the families out in the Palisades and Altadena. This is a true testament that we're going to continue to restore this city. We gonna keep rocking.”
Joining Lamar in the nominee list were several big names including Beyonce for Texas Hold ‘Em, Taylor Swift for Fortnight featuring Post Malone, Sabrina Carpenter for Espresso, Chappel Roan for Good Luck, Babe!, Charli XCX for 360 and, Billie Eilish for Birds of a Feather
Not Like Us was released as a diss track against artist, Drake, which alleviated the intensity of several allegations against him and brought their feud to a tipping point.
