Bobbie Jean Carter’s cause of death was revealed by the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner Department in Florida.
According to PEOPLE, Aaron and Nick Carter’s sister died on December 23 at the age of 41 due to "Intoxication by the combined effects of Fentanyl and methamphetamine."
The news followed previous reports that a death investigation had been initiated after Bobbie Jean was found lifeless in the bathroom of her Florida home and was pronounced dead after she was immediately transported to the hospital.
The inspection led the officers to discover that Bobbie Jean was on probation, stemming from cocaine possession at the time of her death. Furthermore, part of her medical history revealed in the reports that she was also diagnosed with schizophrenia.
However, officials confirmed that no signs of foul play were observed, adding, that no narcotics or paraphernalia were found in Carter's bathroom or bedroom.
For the unversed, Carter's mother, Jane Carter, confirmed news of her daughter’s demise to TMZ.
"I am in shock from learning of the sudden death of my daughter, Bobbie Jean; and I will need time to process the terrible reality of this happening for the third time," she told the outlet that time.
A few days later, Nick shared a heartfelt note dedicated to his late sister.
"To my older sister Bobbie. You had a great sense of humor and a lively spirit. Growing up, I was your baby, and you were my best friend," he wrote in an open later shared on Instagram.
"Life wasn’t fair to you, that I know. Sometimes, it feels like you didn’t have a shot, no matter what," Nick added.
The Carter family has suffered the loss of family members over the years. Aaron was found dead in his home at the age of 34 in 2022, following the demise of his sibling Leslie in 2012.
