Kate Winslet recalled her struggle with the fame she received in 1997 after the release of James Cameron's romance-tragedy, Titanic.

The 48-year-old actress, in her latest cover story interview for PORTER magazine, opened up about the challenges she faced after becoming famous.

"I felt like I had to look a certain way, or be a certain thing, and because media intrusion was so significant at that time, my life was quite unpleasant," said the Academy Award winner.

She further said, "Journalists would always say, ‘After Titanic, you could have done anything and yet you chose to do these small things’ … and I was like, ‘Yeah, you bet your life I did! Because, guess what, being famous was horrible.' "

Despite the unpleasant aspects, Kate also admitted that being famous is not a ‘burden.’

"[Titanic] continues to bring people huge amounts of joy. The only time I am like, ‘Oh God, hide,' is if we are on a boat somewhere,” the Regime star added.

For those unversed, Kate portrayed the character of Rose in the tragic love story alongside her very good friend Leonardo DiCaprio.
