Martin Short refutes Meryl Streep dating rumors: ‘We are just friends'

Martin Short has finally addressed the rumors of dating Meryl Streep during his appearance on Sunday's episode of Club Random with Bill Maher.

The 73-year-old actor clarified that he and his ‘Only Murders in the Building’ co-star ‘are just good friends.’

“We’re not a couple; we are just very close friends,” Martin said.

“Well,” Bill responded lightheartedly, “You should, because there’s nothing more powerful in Hollywood than a power couple.”

“It worked for Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman; it worked for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie,” remarked the podcast’s host.

Earlier this month, rumors of Martin and Meryl dating began circulating after the two were seen together at the Golden Globes.

The Father of the Bride star’s spokesperson told PEOPLE at the time that the actors “are just very good friends, nothing more.”
