Prince William did not wish his wife, Princess Kate, on her 42nd birthday, rather, he posted a tweet to mourn the death of a rugby player.

Taking his grief to X, formerly known as Twitter, the future king penned a tribute for rugby legend, Welsh JPR Williams, who passed away at the age of 74 on Monday.

"There was no one quite like him on the rugby field. A true @WelshRugbyUnion great, my thoughts are with JPR Williams’ family and friends," Prince of Wales posted this on Tuesday, which also happened to be Kate Middleton’s 42nd birthday.

Although the heir to the throne seemingly snubbed his wife on her birthday, King Charles saved the day and wished his eldest daughter-in-law a very happy birthday.

His Majesty and Queen Camilla posted a sweet birthday wish for the Princess of Wales on their official royal family account on Instagram that read, "Wishing The Princess of Wales a very happy birthday today! [emojis]"

The caption was accompanied by a never-before-seen picture of the birthday girl.

It was a throwback photograph from the Coronation that took place last May which featured Kate donning the Coronation robe coupled with an exquisite tiara.

She was seen exchanging bright smiles with the King, whereas the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh can also be seen laughing in the corner of the picture.

In the comments section, the royal fans rallied to wish the future queen, and many fans expressed their excitement over the picture.

One fan gushed over the snapshot, "Aww what a beautiful picture! I love it [heart face emoji] Happy birthday to our amazing Princess of Wales! I hope she will have a great day and a wonderful new year! We all love you, Catherine."

Another well-wisher wrote, "Oh this is a STUNNING photo from the Coronation! Happy Birthday to the Princess of Wales, I hope she has a wonderful day."
