Adan Canto, who played the role of Arman Morales in The Cleaning Lady, passed away at the age of 42 following a private battle with appendiceal cancer.
Deadline confirmed that the Mexican actor, who portrayed Vice President-elect Aaron Shore opposite Kiefer Sutherland for three seasons of the ABC and Netflix show, Designated Survivor, died on Monday, January 8.
The outlet also cited Canto’s spokesperson at UTA, Entertainment360, and Viewpoint, "Adan had a depth of spirit that few truly knew. Those who glimpsed it were changed forever."
They mourned the actor’s demise and added, "He will be greatly missed by so many."
Shortly after the news of his death was made public, Fox Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television released a joint statement that read, "We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Adan Canto."
They continued, "A wonderful actor and dear friend, we were honored to have him part of the Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment families since his U.S. debut The Following more than a decade ago."
The statement praised Canto’s performance and went on to say, "Most recently, he lit up the screen in The Cleaning Lady with a powerful performance that showcased his artistry, range, depth and vulnerability."
"This is an unfathomable loss, and we grieve alongside his wife Stephanie, their children, and loved ones, We will miss Adan dearly," they concluded.
Canto, who is widely acclaimed for playing Sunspot in X-Men: Days of Future Past, was survived by his wife Stephanie Ann, and kids, three-and-a-half-year-old Roman Alder and one-and-a-half-year-old Eve Josephine.
