In the latest chapter of Mariah Carey's tumultuous love life, headlines buzzed with news of her recent separation from longtime partner Bryan Tanaka.

The Heartbreaker crooner has experienced two divorces and a few unsuccessful relationships in between. 

At present she is not married to anyone but has dated musicians and athletes over the time.

Here’s the dating timeline of the 54-year-old, who is also known as Songbird Supreme:

Tommy Mottola

Carey and Mottola first caught each other’s eye at a party in 1988. Five years later the Love Takes Time songstress, who was 23 at that time, married the Sony Music executive, who was then 43, in June 1993.

In a twist of fate the couple got divorced in 1998, later the pop diva in 2020 opened up about the divorce on Oprah Winfrey's Apple TV's The Oprah Conversation.

She revealed that her relationship with Derek Jeter was a “catalyst that helped” her getting out of the marriage with Mottola.

Derek Jeter

Carey first met Derek Jeter over a dinner party and the two hit it off immediately.

Their “short and sweet dream” romantic journey, from 1997 to 1998, inspired her to make songs including, The Roof and My All.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Carey’s spokesperson Cindi Berger stated that the reason for their breakup was because, "The media pressure was just too much for them".

Luis Miguel

After parting ways with Jeter, Carey found love again in the arms of Luis Miguel. She dubbed him as an “authentic, over the top Latin lover” who gifted her a Bulgari necklace.

However, the romance turned out to be short-lived as the two dated from 1998 called it quit in 2001 following allegations of infidelity amid their hectic schedules, as per HOLA.

Christian Monzon

After giving her love life a break the Obsessed vocalist crossed paths with Christian Monzon in 2005 on the set of Don’t Forget About Us.

The two were featured as love interests in the music video and their brief romance lasted until 2006, and the reason of their split remained unknown.

Nick Cannon

Carey and Nick Cannon tied the knot after three years of dating in April 2008. They couple, who crossed each other’s path for the first time at the Teen Choice Awards in 2005, welcomed twins Moroccan and Monroe in 2011 before getting divorced in 2016.

Carey in her memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey addressed her divorce and admitted that "egos and emotions got inflamed" that resulted in the couple's divorce.

James Packer

The Bye Bye songstress and James Packer were introduced to each other in 2015 at the Hercules movie premiere and a year later they made their romance public.

The two remained engaged from January to October 2016, during that time she flaunted a massive 35-carat sparkler on her ring finger.

The couple called off their engagement during a yachting getaway in Naples in 2016. 

The next year Packer alluded their relationship as a "mistake for her and a mistake for me".

Bryan Tanaka

Carey and Bryan Tanaka were first romantically involved in December 2016, she publicly acknowledged her relationship in February the following year when she called him her "boyfriend" during an Associated Press interview.

The couple broke up in 2017 but the Fantasy hitmaker rekindled her love with Tanaka, who previously served as her backup dancer for tour before dating.

However, recently the couple got separated again after seven years of dating.

According to Page Six, the couple parted their ways because, "He wants to have a family. That’s not where she is at".

Notably, Carey is a mother-of-two meanwhile Tanaka doesn't have any children of his own.
