Kamar de los Reyes, best known for portraying Antonio Vega on the One Life to Live soap opera, passed away at 56.
His wife’s publicist confirmed to Variety that the Puerto Rican actor succumbed on Sunday, December 24, in Los Angeles following a brief battle with cancer.
Shortly after the news of the actor’s demise surfaced over Christmas Eve, the All-American showrunner and executive producer, Nkechi Okoro Carroll, recalled her time working with the One Life to Live alum.
"We are absolutely devastated at the loss of Kamar," she told Deadline.
"We are so grateful for every moment he spent with us. Our hearts and sincere condolences are with Sherri, Caylen, Micheal, John and the rest of Kamar’s family,
She concluded her statement, "Thank you for sharing him so generously with us and with the rest of the world. He truly was a gift. One we will cherish forever".
As per the publication, during his last days up until his death, Call of Duty: Black Ops II was filming new episodes for its sixth season of CW’s flagship series All American– a series in which he was appearing in for the past two years.
The writer went on to say, "He was such a beloved member of our All-American family. He brought so much love, light and joy to the set every day, even during his final days".
De los Reyes was married to his One Life to Live co-star and Fosters and Good Trouble actress Sherri Saum.
The couple share nine-year-old twins, John and Michael.
He is also survived by his 26-year-old son, Caylen, from his previous relationship.
